No. 5 Stanford (12-1-2, 5-1-1 Pac-12) lengthened its win-streak to five with a 1-0 win against UCLA (5-9-3, 1-6-2 Pac-12) on Sunday. Earlier this year, redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Thomas was the only collegiate player to be invited to the U-23 Men’s National Team camp. The team highlights the best soccer players from across the nation and is often an indicator of America’s future Olympic and World Cup prospects. His spot on the team followed a decorated season as a redshirt freshman with the men’s soccer team, which is currently ranked fifth in the nation.

Stanford women’s golf celebrated a successful weekend at its home course finishing 5-under 847 for second place at the Stanford Intercollegiate. Stanford freshman Angelina Ye took home the honor of individual champion — her first title at her second collegiate tournament of the season — with a stunning 10-under performance.

No. 2 Stanford men’s soccer (7-1-1, 1-2 Pac-12) suffered its first loss of the season against No. 7 Washington (8-1, 2-0 Pac-12) at home on Thursday night. Despite skillful goalkeeping, Stanford's weakened defense proved to be insufficient against a strong Husky team.

No. 1 men’s soccer (7-0-1, 1-0 Pac-12) ended with a 3-3 draw after double overtime against the University of California, Santa Barbara (6-2-1, 0-0 Big West) on Saturday. Prior to the match, Stanford had won every game of the season, and this comes as the Cardinal’s first draw.

No. 21 Stanford field hockey (1-2, 0-0 America East) will shoot for its second-straight victory when No. 7 Michigan (1-1, 0-0 Big Ten) visits the Farm on Friday. The Wolverines will be the Cardinal’s third ranked opponent in the first four games of the season.

No. 2 Stanford women’s defeated No. 3 California this weekend in the annual Big Row. The Cardinal won four of six races; the Third Varsity Eight team won with a time of 6:42.70, the Second Varsity Eight team with a time of 6:30.90, the Second Varsity Four team won with a time of 7:32.50 and the First Varsity Four team won with a time of 7:06.60.

The final event of the Gender and Sports Speaker Series was held Wednesday and featured Nevin Caple, a strategic diversity consultant on LGBTQ inclusion in sport. Caple sits on the Women’s Sports Foundation’s Advocacy Committee and is a founding member of the Nike LGBT Sports Coalition. Students, athletes and not, and community members gathered in Kissick Auditorium to engage in conversation on how to best promote an inclusive community.
